Assam CM to Visit Barak Valley on Oct 24–25 to Unveil Key Development Projects and Promote Grassroots Empowerment

Silchar: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will undertake a two-day visit to Barak Valley, covering Cachar and Sribhumi districts, on October 24 and 25, 2025. The visit will include official and public engagements aimed at advancing the State Government’s developmental and welfare initiatives in southern Assam while strengthening connections with citizens at the grassroots level.

The tour will begin at R.K. Nagar in Sribhumi district, where Dr. Sarma will attend a ceremonial cheque distribution under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) at 11 AM. The programme supports entrepreneurship and self-reliance, enabling beneficiaries to launch new ventures and contribute to Assam’s economy.

Following this, the Chief Minister will move to Silchar for another MMUA cheque distribution for the Silchar Legislative Assembly Constituency at 1 PM at the Police Parade Ground. The event is expected to draw a large gathering, highlighting the Government’s commitment to empowering women, youth, self-help groups, and small traders through sustainable livelihood initiatives.

At 4:30 PM, Dr. Sarma will visit Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) to lay the foundation stone for a new 200-bedded Super Speciality Hospital. The facility will strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Barak Valley, offering advanced treatment and specialised services for residents of southern Assam and neighbouring states.

Later, at 5:15 PM, the Chief Minister will attend the BJP Booth President and Shakti Kendra meeting for Silchar Lok Sabha Constituency at the Grand Palace Hall. The interaction will focus on organisational coordination and enhancing communication between party leadership and local cadres, reinforcing the party’s commitment to public welfare and inclusive governance.

On October 25, Dr. Sarma will inaugurate the newly constructed Binnakandi Mandal BJP Office at 10 AM and the Lakhipur Mandal BJP Office at 10:40 AM, strengthening the party’s presence and connectivity in rural Cachar.

Later in the morning, at 11:45 AM, he will attend an MMUA cheque distribution programme at Laboc Field for the Lakhipur LAC, extending support for self-employment and economic independence among rural residents.

In the afternoon, the Chief Minister will depart Silchar for Guwahati, concluding the two-day visit.
