Silchar: Assam University strengthened its global academic presence by participating in the 16th National Graduate Research Presentation Conference held in Thailand on May 1, where Vice Chancellor Rajive Mohan Pant delivered a keynote address on the role of artificial intelligence in crisis management and border security.

The conference was hosted by Surindra Rajabhat University at its Faculty of Management Science and brought together experts from 18 universities worldwide. The event focused on the theme “AI & Digital: Crisis Management and Border Community Security Development.”

Prof. Pant, speaking during a plenary session, outlined key challenges faced by border communities, including geographic isolation, cross-border threats, and the vulnerability of migrant populations. He cited examples from the India–Bangladesh and Thailand–Myanmar borders, along with European systems, to show how AI-driven tools are reshaping crisis response and regional security frameworks.

Also representing Assam University, Deepjyoti Choudhury, Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration, delivered a separate keynote on “AI and Digital Crisis Management: From Battlefields to Bytes,” highlighting emerging threats such as cyber warfare, digital espionage, and deepfake technologies.

The conference was inaugurated by Chalong Sukthong, while Chamroen Wanphet welcomed delegates and later presented tokens of appreciation to the keynote speakers.

The participation marks another step in Assam University’s efforts to expand international collaboration and contribute to global discussions on technology-driven security and crisis management.
