Barpeta: Assam Police arrested a notorious alleged fraudster from Barpeta who is accused of cheating people across Assam through fake job offers, OLX scams and multiple fake Facebook identities.

The accused has been identified as Dharmeswar Roy. Police said he allegedly extorted more than Rs 10 lakh from a woman and is linked to at least 22 cheating cases registered at different police stations across the state.

According to investigators, the accused used social media platforms and fake identities to trap victims and carry out financial fraud. Police have launched further investigation to trace possible accomplices and additional victims connected to the case.
