Cachar: Tension gripped the Harinagar area along the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Cachar district after a group of Indian farmers was allegedly attacked by suspected Bangladeshi miscreants on Sunday.
According to reports, several farmers including Abdul Hannan, Tajim Uddin, Taj Uddin, Salim Uddin, Shahab Uddin and Mustafa Ahmed sustained injuries while working in agricultural fields in the Katigora area. The injured were later shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident sparked panic across the border belt, with nearly 200 farmers gathering in the fenced Harinagar area to protest and demand stronger security measures. The situation remained tense as locals expressed fear over their safety.
Residents alleged that such incidents have made farming near the international border increasingly risky, raising serious concerns about both livelihood and personal security. Some locals also raised questions over the vigilance of the Border Security Force (BSF), though no official statement has been issued by the authorities so far.
Security forces are said to be monitoring the situation closely.
