Ukhrul: Tension gripped Sinakeithei village in Ukhrul district after a heavy exchange of gunfire broke out between Naga village volunteers and suspected Kuki armed groups on Thursday afternoon.
According to sources, the confrontation began around 3:20 PM and continued till nearly 5:10 PM, creating panic among residents in the area. The sound of continuous gunfire was reported across nearby villages, prompting fears of further escalation.
The incident has once again highlighted the fragile security situation in the hill districts of Manipur, where inter-community tensions have remained high over the past months.
