Himanta Biswa Sarma, Wife’s Combined Assets Nearly Double to Rs 35.16 Crore: Affidavit

Guwahati: The combined assets of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his entrepreneur wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma have nearly doubled over the past five years, reaching Rs 35.16 crore in 2026 from Rs 17.27 crore in 2021, according to his election affidavit filed on Friday.

Sarma, who filed his nomination as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party from the Jalukbari constituency, declared movable assets worth Rs 2.36 crore in 2026, up from Rs 1.72 crore in 2021. He reported no immovable property in his name.

His wife, Managing Director of Pride East Entertainment, declared total assets worth Rs 32.79 crore in 2026, marking a sharp rise from Rs 16.19 crore in 2021. Her holdings include both movable and immovable properties.

According to the affidavit, the Chief Minister has Rs 2.28 lakh in cash and four bank deposits totalling Rs 68,01,943. His wife has Rs 3.16 lakh in cash and bank deposits amounting to Rs 74,85,248.

While Sarma reported no investments in bonds, debentures, shares, or mutual funds, his wife holds investments worth Rs 5.10 crore in such financial instruments.

The disclosures come as part of mandatory filings ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, offering a snapshot of the financial position of candidates contesting the polls.
