Silchar: A wave of celebration swept across Silchar after BJP candidate Dr. Rajdeep Roy was declared the winner from the Silchar Assembly constituency, securing a massive margin as election results were announced. The victory sparked festive-like scenes in different parts of the town, with party workers and supporters taking to the streets in joy.

One of the most visible celebrations took place in Ward No. 23 under the Silchar Municipal Corporation. This area, earlier known as Ward No. 10, quickly turned festive soon after the results became clear. Under the leadership of former municipal commissioner Gopika Dev, local supporters gathered in large numbers, bursting firecrackers and distributing sweets among residents.

Men, women, and young supporters joined the celebrations, greeting each other and chanting slogans in support of the BJP and their winning candidate. The mood remained energetic and loud, with continuous firecracker bursts echoing through the locality.

The celebrations soon moved beyond the ward as supporters organised a rally. The procession passed through key roads of the town and finally reached Dr. Rajdeep Roy’s residence. Outside his home, supporters once again lit firecrackers and handed out sweets, turning the area into a lively celebration spot.

Speaking during the celebrations, Gopika Dev said the scale of victory reflected the trust people have placed in the party and its leadership. She added that the win was not just political but symbolic of the aspirations of the people of Silchar.

“This is a record victory for Dr. Rajdeep Roy. It belongs to every citizen of Silchar. People have voted for development and progress,” she said.

The celebrations continued well into the evening, with supporters expressing confidence that the new term would bring more development to the region.
