Jagiroad : Senior BJP leader Pijush Hazarika registered a landslide victory from the Jagiroad Assembly constituency, winning by a massive margin of 93,584 votes in the Assam Assembly elections and reaffirming his dominance in the seat.
According to official results declared on Monday, Hazarika polled a total of 1,55,129 votes, defeating Congress candidate Bubul Das in what turned out to be a one-sided contest. The scale of the victory underscores Hazarika’s entrenched support base and organisational strength in the constituency.
With this win, Hazarika has been elected to the Assembly for a fourth consecutive term, further consolidating his political hold over Jagiroad. His emphatic mandate comes amid a broader surge for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) across the state.
The result is being viewed as part of the larger wave in favour of the ruling alliance led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, which is set to return to power for a third straight term. Party leaders attributed the sweeping mandate to the government’s focus on infrastructure development, welfare delivery, and governance reforms.
Celebrations broke out across Jagiroad soon after the announcement of results, with BJP workers and supporters taking to the streets, waving party flags and bursting firecrackers. Party cadres described the victory as a decisive endorsement of the NDA government’s development agenda.
Reacting to the win, Hazarika expressed gratitude to the electorate, stating that the mandate reflects the people’s faith in development, stability, and progress. He dedicated the victory to the voters of Jagiroad, pledging to continue working towards the constituency’s growth and welfare.
