Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ranks seventh, with declared assets of Rs.35.16 crore

Guwahati: Ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms and Assam Election Watch has revealed the wealthiest candidates contesting this time.

Congress candidate Rahul Roy has emerged as the richest, declaring assets worth over Rs.261 crore in his election affidavit. He is followed by Badruddin Ajmal, who has declared assets of Rs.226.31 crore.

The third spot goes to another Congress candidate, Jayanta Khaund, with assets worth Rs.67.74 crore.

Among other prominent candidates, Sewli Mohilary has declared assets exceeding Rs.63 crore, while Rojy Ahmed reported over Rs.54 crore. Nandigiri Bhuyan is also on the list with assets worth Rs.47.45 crore.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ranks seventh, with declared assets of Rs.35.16 crore.

The findings are based on self-declared affidavits submitted by candidates to the Election Commission. The report aims to promote transparency in the electoral process and help voters make informed decisions at the ballot box.
