Silchar: Former Trinamool Congress leader Sushmita Dev has said that a combination of personal and political factors prompted her decision to resign from the party, adding that her future political course will be announced at an appropriate time.

Speaking in Silchar, Dev stated that her supporters would continue to stand by her and expressed confidence that they would remain with her as she charts the next phase of her political journey.

Addressing her resignation from the Rajya Sabha, Dev said she believed it was the right thing to do since the seat had been allotted to her by the Trinamool Congress. She noted that stepping down from the Upper House was consistent with her decision to leave the party.

Dev further remarked that she did not feel the Trinamool Congress currently offered the right environment for her political growth and activities in Assam. According to her, this was one of the key considerations behind her decision to quit the party.
