Silchar: The Assam government has declared three dry days in the Silchar Municipal Corporation (SMC) area in connection with the upcoming municipal elections.

During the dry days, the possession, sale, supply, distribution and consumption of liquor and other intoxicating substances will remain prohibited within the SMC area.

The decision has been taken as part of the measures to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the municipal elections. Authorities have been directed to enforce the restrictions strictly during the specified period.The dry-day order will remain in force on the dates notified by the government in connection with the election process.
