Pangram: The Udharbond Block Congress office at Pangram was locked by the landlord on Saturday over alleged non-payment of rent, setting off fresh political chatter ahead of the upcoming elections.

The landlord, Dhiren Singha, claimed that the party has not paid rent for nearly eight months, with the pending amount reaching around Rs. 40,000. He said repeated assurances were given by party members since the tenure of former block president Pulak Roy, but the dues remained unpaid.

According to Singha, the last rent payment was made sometime between May and July 2025. He further alleged that electricity bills for the office were also left unpaid, forcing him to clear them from his own pocket to avoid disconnection.

The sudden locking of the office has sparked reactions in local political circles, with many viewing the development as an embarrassment for the party in the run-up to the elections. Congress leaders from the Udharbond block have not yet issued any official statement regarding the matter.
