In a major breakthrough, the Karbi Anglong police have arrested two persons along with 37.08 grams of heroin, from Dillai Tiniali over national highway 36 from a hidden compartment of the driver’s seat of the vehicle in which they were traveling

According to police, a raid was conducted based on definite input around 1:00 AM on Thursday morning about a drug transaction by an officer in charge of Dilai police station Lutfur Rahman and Assistant Sub Inspector Jiten Gogoi backed by the force of the police station.

Accordingly, one Tata pick up van having registration no AS 02 CC 7824 coming from the direction of Dimapur city of Nagaland was intercepted. After a thorough search, three soapboxes containing heroin were found.

Firuj Khan aged around twenty six years son of Chafikul Haque, resident of Jaluguti village, Morigaon district and Taizuddin Hussain aged around twenty four years son of Morjut Ali resident of Kochuwa area of Nagaon district who were manning the vehicle were taken into custody.

In another occurrence, Karbi Anglong Police recovered fifteen soap cases containing suspected Heroin from an auto rickshaw at a special checking from Panbari locality of Diphu town last Saturday.

According to police, due to continuous monitoring on national highway 39 connecting Assam with Nagaland and Manipur, the smugglers are using some alternative routes to reach Nagaon and other parts of Assam from the neighboring states.

In such a bid, a pair of man and women drug peddlers were caught by police with 194 grams of heroin worth around 14 lakhs of rupees, while they were travelling in an auto rickshaw (no AS 09 AC 7945) hired from Dhansari town adjacent to Dimapur city of Nagaland.

The quantity of drugs was packed in 15 soap cases. The arrested paddlers have admitted that they were trying to enter Nagaon through Diphu and Howraghat town covering a distance of around 90 kilometers to avoid police checking.

The arrested peddlers have been identified as Abdush Salam aged around forty four years hailing from Karimganj district’s Ratabari area and the other one is Jotsnara Begam of Hojai district’s Islam nagar locality.
