Guwahati | Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said Assam is witnessing rapid growth in its unincorporated sector and is emerging as one of the fastest-growing economies in the country.

Highlighting key economic indicators on May 9, the Chief Minister said the state currently has 13.71 lakh enterprises operating in the unincorporated sector. According to him, nearly 94.6 per cent of these enterprises are now linked to the banking system, reflecting increasing financial inclusion and formalisation of businesses across the state.

Sarma also claimed that Assam has become one of the top three most digitised states in India. He further stated that the state ranks first in urban commercial infrastructure, pointing to expanding business activity and improved urban economic facilities.

Emphasising the pace of development, the Chief Minister said Assam’s growth rate in the unincorporated sector is currently double the national average.

The remarks come amid the Assam government’s continued focus on infrastructure expansion, digital connectivity, financial inclusion and support for small businesses and entrepreneurs in both urban and rural areas.
