Imphal: Security forces and Manipur Police carried out multiple operations across the state on June 20, resulting in the arrest of two alleged cadres linked to proscribed insurgent organisations.
In one operation, security personnel apprehended an alleged extortionist and active cadre of the banned KCP (PWG), identified as Thangmangjam Naoba Singh alias Pamuba (31). A resident of Mayang Langjing Tamang in Imphal West district, he was arrested from his residence under the jurisdiction of Lamsang Police Station.
In a separate operation on the same day, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the proscribed PREPAK outfit, identified as Konjengbam Diliver Singh (27), alias Thembung.
He is a resident of Lousangkhong Makha Leikai in Imphal East district. The arrest was made from the vicinity of the exit gate of Imphal International Airport under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district.
Police sources said both arrests were part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities and maintain law and order in the state. However, authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the alleged activities or specific roles of the arrested individuals.
Investigations are underway.
