Dholai: Dholai is slowly turning into one of the most closely watched constituencies this election season. At the centre of it stands BJP candidate Amiya Kanti Das, who has spent the past week in a near non-stop campaign, moving from village to village and booth to booth, trying to lock in support before polling day.

From early morning visits to remote panchayats to late evening worker meetings, Das has focused on one thing. Direct contact with people.

A Week of Relentless Outreach

Over the last several days, Das has covered a wide stretch of the constituency. Areas like Moniyarkhal, Darmikhal, Channighat, Jibangram, South Narsingpur, Derby and Dwarbond have all seen his presence. In each place, the approach has been simple. Small meetings, doorstep conversations, and listening more than speaking.

Locals gather in courtyards, roadside points, and community spaces. Many bring up the same concerns. Roads, jobs, healthcare, schools. Das responds by laying out what he calls a “clear development plan” focused on basic needs.

His team says this style is working. Crowds have been steady, sometimes growing as word spreads from one village to another.

Focus on Organisation and Booth Strength

A key part of the campaign has been strengthening the party at the booth level. In Barjalenga mandal, Das attended multiple worker meetings across places like Loharbond, Kalachand Bari, Sonacherra, Boro Dokan, and Basudebpur.

Party workers, booth presidents, and local leaders turned up in large numbers. The message from the leadership remained consistent. Stay connected with voters. Carry the message door to door. Build trust at the ground level.

Das repeatedly invoked the slogan of inclusive development and stressed the need for a “strong and clean administration.” Employment for youth and self-reliance for women were highlighted in almost every meeting.

Sankalp and Worker Motivation

One of the bigger gatherings of the week took place at the Dholai PWD Ground under Narsingpur mandal. The “Prishtha Pramukh Sammelan” drew senior leaders, including MP Parimal Suklabaidya, along with a large number of party workers.

Here, the focus shifted to the party’s “Sankalp Patra.” Leaders spoke about promises such as job creation, financial support for women, expansion of education, land rights, and welfare of farmers and tea garden workers.

Das told the gathering that the document is not just a list of promises but a roadmap to improve daily life. He urged workers to carry these points to every household.

Reaching Out to Minority Communities

After the conference, Das moved to Rajnagar, where he held a meeting with members of the minority community. The tone here was more conversational. People spoke about local issues, access to schemes, and basic services.

Das assured them that development schemes and government benefits would reach all sections. His outreach in these areas is being seen as an attempt to widen his support base.

Human Touch in Campaign

In between the packed schedule, one incident stood out. In Jamalpara, Das visited the home of Niranjan Hajam, who recently suffered losses in a fire. He assured help and spent time with the family.

Such gestures, though small, are being noticed locally. Supporters say this adds a human side to his campaign.

Big Meetings and Youth Focus

At Moniyarkhal Tea Estate under Palonghat mandal, Das joined a “Bijoy Sankalp Sabha” in the presence of minister Kaushik Rai. The meeting had a strong turnout, especially among young people.

Here, Amiya Kanti Das spoke at length about jobs, skill development, and women’s empowerment. He said the goal is to build a self-reliant Dholai, where young people do not have to leave in search of work.

Growing Political Heat

With each passing day, the campaign in Dholai is getting sharper. Parties are pushing hard, and the ground mood is still fluid.

For now, Amiya Kanti Das appears to be banking on three things. Constant visibility, organisational strength, and a development-focused message.

Whether this converts into votes will be known only on counting day. But one thing is clear. In Dholai, the contest is very much alive, and the campaign has truly hit full pace.
