Silchar: A group of forty e-rickshaw auto drivers have accused Mustaque Ahmed Laskar, proprietor of Unique Automobiles at Aulia Bazar, Silchar, and certain employees of the Union Bank’s Silchar branch of defrauding them under the pretext of providing government subsidies.
According to a complaint lodged at Silchar Sadar Police Station, each driver was allegedly made to pay Rs.85,000, of which only Rs.23,000 was deposited in the bank. Despite the formal complaint, the victims claim no justice has been delivered so far.
On Monday, several affected drivers visited the Unique Automobiles showroom to follow up on the matter. They found the showroom in the hands of another individual and the owner, Mustaque Ahmed Laskar, missing.
The drivers also allege that the e-rickshaws provided to them lack proper documentation — including valid ownership papers, registration, and legal challans.
Victims such as Ratan Das, Shankar Das, Nihar Hossain, Samad Uddin Barlaskar, Biresh Nath, Sanchit Das, Azir Uddin Laskar, Shishir Das, Benu Nath, and Sujan Roy have once again appealed to the district administration through the media, demanding strict action and justice in the matter.
