Silchar: The installation and induction ceremony of the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View for the Lionistic Year 2026-27 was held in a grand manner at the Conference Hall of Rajiv Bhawan, Silchar, on Sunday.

The programme began with an inaugural dance performance by Jagadeshwari Sikdar, followed by a guitar recital by Master Ayush Dey.

The ceremony was attended by Past Multiple Council Chairman of MD322 Lion Amar Barooah as the Chief Guest. Immediate Past Multiple Council Chairman Lion Nirmal Bhura attended as the Guest of Honour and Installation Officer, while Lion Sabyasachi Rudragupta was the Induction Officer and Special Guest.

Among the special invitees were District 322G Leo President Soumyajyoti Bhattacharjee, Zone 16 Chairperson Basudev Bhattacharjee, Zone Chairperson Sumit Das, Past Regional Chairman Pradip Kumar Banik, Amit Khandelwal, Ipsita Dutta, Anil Jain, Anup Dutta, Anup Dey, Abhisek Das, Bappi Dutta Choudhury, Ananda Ghosh and several other distinguished guests.

Lion Nirmal Bhura formally installed the new office-bearers and Board of Directors of the club for the 2026-27 session. Outgoing President Bandita Trivedi Roy ceremonially handed over charge to the newly elected President, Sanjeev Roy.

The newly elected team includes Vice Presidents Anup Roy and Minara Laskar, Secretary Debashree Choudhury, Treasurer Sahin Akhtar Mazumder, LCIF Coordinator Pushpabati Roy, Membership Chairperson Samsul Islam, Marketing Chairperson Prasanta Bhattacharjee, and Directors Subir Dey, Biplab Chakraborty, Advocate Biswanath Patra, Raju Barbhuiya and Babul Kumar.

Other dignitaries present included Rita Chakraborty, Mousumi Chowdhury, Sampa Paul, Uma Kar, Anita Majumder, Joyonto Sikdar, Jayanti Bhattacharjee and many others.

During the programme, the club felicitated the NDRF Team 1A of the 1st Battalion in recognition of its dedicated service to the nation. The honour was received by Inspector Ajay Kumar Yadav, Ashutosh Ojhi and CI Avinash Kumar.

The club also honoured the renowned Barak Valley-based social organisation Youths Against Social Evils (YASE) for its contributions to society. Members of the journalist fraternity were also recognised, with reporter Nilkamal Das among those felicitated. Mementoes were also received by Manna Dutta, Sajon Laskar, Ahad Barbhuiya, Amit Goala and others.

Speakers at the event appreciated the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View for its community service initiatives over the years and encouraged the members to continue their commitment to humanitarian activities and the ideals of Lionism.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Prasanta Bhattacharjee, while the programme was anchored by Debashree Choudhury. The meeting concluded with the National Anthem, following which newly installed President Sanjeev Roy formally adjourned the session.
