Silchar: An MBA final-year student of Assam University, identified as Rozy Dev, was seriously injured in a road accident at Ambicapatty Chariali in Silchar, allegedly caused by a drunk driver.

According to reports, the incident occurred when a four-wheeler collided head-on with the scooter ridden by Rozy, a resident of Ambicapatty. Fellow students claimed that the impact left her with severe injuries, reportedly causing paralysis in the lower part of her body.

Although the accused driver was initially arrested, allegations have surfaced that he was released by the police the very next day, sparking outrage among students.

In protest, students of the MBA department staged a demonstration and submitted a memorandum to the office of the Superintendent of Police. They demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the incident, strict action against those responsible, and adequate support for the victim’s medical treatment.

The students also urged authorities to enforce stricter road safety measures in the area to prevent such incidents in the future.
