Silchar | An ambulance driver was seriously injured after he was allegedly stabbed multiple times during a parking dispute at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on Friday, police said. According to reports, the incident occurred following an argument between two ambulance drivers, identified as Raju Kar and Bappu Laskar, over parking inside the hospital premises. The verbal altercation soon escalated into a physical confrontation.

Police said Laskar allegedly attacked Kar with a sharp weapon, inflicting injuries on five to six parts of his body. Several security personnel who intervened to stop the assault also reportedly sustained injuries during the scuffle. Kar was immediately shifted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment, where his condition was reported to be serious.

Police personnel rushed to the scene, brought the situation under control and arrested the accused. The incident briefly triggered tension inside the hospital campus. Following the attack, members of the Bajrang Dal reached the hospital and demanded stringent legal action against the accused.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the violent clash.
